Where do you live?
I am born and bred in Southland and I’ve lived in Dunedin City for the last 30 years.
What do you do outside of work?
I like to get outside and amongst it. I love my winter sports, skiing, fly fishing, a bit of hunting and golf, and I have three boys who keep me busy.
Where is your favourite place to go on holiday?
Central Otago. It’s a beautiful part of the world, beautiful scenery, and surroundings. You are out amongst the mountains and the lake. There’s access to skiing, access to fishing, all the things that I love doing. I am really fortunate to be able to head up there as often as possible.
What are you most looking forward to in your new role?
Getting off State Highway 1, travelling through the South Island and meeting good people.
What is one life lesson that you live by?
I respect every individual that I meet until they give me a good reason not too – that is a pretty important rule for me.
What is your go-to signature dish when you are entertaining?
Marinated duck breast on carrot, parsnip and kūmara mash. Top draw tucker that!
